The basis for a
productive and competitive dairy cow population is a strictly organised
breed program oriented to the most modern criteria. This
performance for German Brown Swiss is realised by the co-operative efforts
of the participating breed associations for performance artificial insemination
stations, the organisations for performance testing as well as of the
state-run animal husbandry advisory system.
In order to achieve
the best possible breed progress, young cows and heifers from the best
lines, as well as the best cows selected according to breed value, performance
and exterior characteristics, are integrated intensively into the breed
program. Greater efficiency of the breed program is also achieved by
the use of embryo transfer and other biotechnology.
